You hear voice overs all the time and probably don't even give them a second thought. You hear voice overs in movies, TV shows, on the radio, audiobooks, video games, on-hold message systems and in all forms of media.
When you're watching your favorite movie, TV show, or playing your video game, high quality voice overs can make them more exciting. The voice over can draw you in and immerse you. Sometimes a particular voice can really stick with you. A radio voice over might actually be done by your favorite personality. Someone you hear every morning on your way to work, or on a commercial on your local radio station.

In addition to hearing voice overs on terrestrial radio, they can now be heard on satellite radio, which means even more work for radio personalities and voice over talent. Voice talent and voice overs are needed for shows about health, mediation, cooking, finance, entertainment, books, politics, music, pretty much anything and everything.
The need for voice talent and voice overs in general is constantly on the rise. TV show celebrities are creating their own channels. Podcasts of all kinds are increasingly popular, though if there's any money to be made as a voiceover talent in podcasting, it remains to be seen.
